Working with schools

Stripey goes back to school

We love getting children and young people involved in the work we do. Partnering with schools is a great way to teach them about non-academic concepts such as community, recycling and charity. Here’s some of the ways that schools and pupils can get involved:

  • Organise a donation event by collecting toiletries, clothing and coats.
  • See our School Days campaign for how you can support local children with school essentials.
  • Hold a fundraiser such as a cake sale, quiz night or sponsored event.
  • Organise a collection for items such as coats, school uniform, stationery or toiletries. Please email us if you would like to organise something.
  • Encourage everyone to wear stripes and make a donation or fundraise for our Stripes4Stripey event in June.
  • Support our annual Mother’s Day campaign ‘A Gift for Mum’, where we organise donations of pampering products to ensure no Mum goes without.
  • Get a team together and join Team Stork for Run Reigate.

If your school would like to work with us or choose us to be your chosen charity, we’d love to hear from you. Our mascot Stripey, along with our Partnerships Manager, loves to visit school assemblies or classes and talk about the work we do.

Some examples of how schools and pupils have supported us...

How we support schools...

We know how important it is that pupils have the right equipment for school, not just for practical reasons but also because we want them to feel positive, included and confident. We work with schools through our School Days campaign to support local families experiencing hardship by providing the following items on request…

BAGS4SCHOOL

Brand new school bags with all the necessary stationery, water bottle etc. that pupils need for school and homework.

SCHOOL SHOES

School shoes, trainers and wellies. Sometimes we are able to source these new through our partnerships with suppliers and retailers.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Good quality, pre-loved generic school uniform, winter coats and items needed for school residential trips.

BOOKS AND TOYS

Lots of resources for the classroom, including educational books and role play toys.

Duke of Edinburgh

We have opportunities for students who are working towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold award to complete their regular volunteering hours with us. Tasks include sorting clothing, making up activity packs, hygiene packs and school bags, checking and cleaning equipment such as highchairs and travel cots to make sure all donated items are ready to go out to families we are supporting.

Placements also involve group fundraising, and contributing to our research to help us develop the service we offer to teenagers needing support in Surrey.
